Our biggest boat, and the one we lean on for full days and big groups. The Devil Ray is a low, stable, wide-open platform — 14 feet across the beam — so there's real room to gear up, move around in a wetsuit, and stretch out on the ride back. Twin outboards push her out to the far sites without the long slog, which matters on the days we're aiming for the Catalina Islands.

A stable single-hull workhorse with a big dive deck and a shaded upper station you reach by ladder — grab a seat up top on the run out, watch the coastline slide by, then drop down to a deck with room to spare. She's our go-to for group dives and private charters, and she gets in and out of the water easy. Perfect for a crew doing their Advanced Open Water together.

The Eagle Ray 2's party trick is the upper observation deck. On the run out to the sites it's the best seat on the water — higher up, better breeze, and a real chance of catching bait balls boiling or rays skimming the surface before you even splash. Down below it's a stable single-hull dive platform with high-capacity tank storage, so nobody's tripping over each other kitting up.

Twin Yamaha outboards, an open dive platform, and a shaded canopy over the top — the Blue Orca is built to zip. Centerline tank stowage keeps the deck clear and the boarding easy, and she turns on a dime, which is exactly what you want threading around the rocks and pinnacles at our local Gulf de Papagayo sites. Smaller group, shorter commute, more bottom time.

Thirty feet, twin outboards, a shaded canopy, and not much between you and the water — the Jelly Fish 2 is quick and easy in every sense. Boarding is a step, the open deck is uncluttered, and you're at Tortuga or Monkey Head before your defog has a chance to dry out. A great little boat for a tight group that wants to be in the water, not on the road.

Our compact single-hull center console. What she gives up in size she makes back in agility — the Whale Shark is nimble, quick to the local sites, and ideal when it's a small group or a private dive and you'd rather keep things intimate. Easy access all around the deck, outboard power, and a short run to the reef.

Why the boats matter

Fast boats mean more diving — that's the whole point

Most of our Gulf de Papagayo sites sit within a 15-minute ride, the Catalinas about 30, and the Bat Islands around 50 on a good day. Our engines cut that commute down, so the time you booked gets spent underwater instead of bouncing across open water. We match the boat to the trip — the sea state, the group size, and where we're headed — every single morning.

Boat & dive-day questions

Which boat will I be diving from?

It depends on the day. We match the boat to the trip — the destination, the group size, and the conditions. Longer runs to the Catalinas and full days with bigger groups usually go on the Devil Ray, Guitar Shark, or Eagle Ray 2; quick local trips often run on the smaller, nimbler boats. If you have a preference or you're booking a private charter, just tell us when you book your dive.

How long is the boat ride to the dive sites?

Most of our local Gulf de Papagayo sites are about a 15-minute ride. The Catalina Islands run around 30 minutes, and the Bat Islands are roughly 50 — when the crossing cooperates, which it often doesn't from December through March. Our fast boats keep those transit times short so you get more time in the water.

Do I need to be an advanced diver to come out?

Not for most of our diving. The local sites and the Catalinas suit a wide range of certifications, and we run everything from Discover Scuba to full PADI courses. The Bat Islands are the exception — strong currents and big animals make that an advanced-level trip.

Can I book a whole boat for my group?

Absolutely — private charters are one of our favorite things to run, and several boats in the fleet are well suited to it. Get in touch with your dates and group size and we'll sort out the right boat and a price.
