On the right-hand side of Playa Ocotal lies one of the area’s most enjoyable and accessible shore snorkeling spots. The calm bay offers shallow depths—typically around 5 m/15 ft, with a maximum of about 9 m/20 ft—making it an ideal place to spend a long, relaxing day exploring the underwater world at your own pace.

Despite its easy conditions, Ocotal is full of marine life. Snorkelers often encounter round rays, southern stingrays, octopus, lobster, pufferfish, crabs, wrasse, butterflyfish, angelfish, and a wide variety of other reef fish. With clear water and gentle conditions, the shoreline provides an excellent opportunity to observe ocean life up close.
