Arco Iris (Rainbow)

Rainbow (Arco Iris in Spanish)  is just visible above the surface a little way off the coast from Brumel island. Dropping down to about 40-50ft and following the rock face you reach a wide sandy channel that you can enter (current depending) where there are often schools of grunts swirling in the currents. Turning to follow the rocks on the left you come to an area where there are several interlinking sandy channels where you can often find multiple (8-12 is common but there have been reports of up to 40 at a time!) white reef sharks hanging. The last sandy patch drops down to about 80ft but you can follow the rocks at a shallower depth back around past the sandy areas to the main rock face and look for turtles and round rays.

Time of year and weather conditions can find the water temperatures to range between 65-80 degrees F (18-27C).

Marine life that are commonly seen at these sites include white tip reef sharks, nurse sharks, eagle rays, round rays, moray eels, octopus, schools of grunts, lobsters and maybe a seahorse.
