Vacation in November to Costa Rica

November is a great time to come and visit Costa Rica! November is the beginning of the dry season in Guanacaste so in most cases you will have pretty good weather throughout the day. There still may be the odd rain or thunderstorm at night, but take it from us, these thunderstorms are spectacular to watch out over the water from your accommodation.

The other great thing about November is that you all of the trees and plant life in Guanacaste is still green from the rainy season. It truly is a magnificent time to be visiting. If you are looking to enjoy some of the land based tours such as the Palo Verde Riverboat Tour, this is a great time of year to see all kinds of jungle animals.

And then there is the diving. November sees a ton of marine life in Costa Rica. You will still get all of the regulars in the Gulf. Several species of rays including the Giant Pacific Manta Ray. Lots of eels, octopus, turtles, huge schools of fish, white tip reef sharks, and if you visit the Bat Islands, it is a great time to see the Bull Sharks. You may be lucky enough to catch some pilot whales in the Gulf de Papagayo and maybe even the occasional humpback whale who has yet to migrate. The waters are generally still very warm and visibility is consistently inconsistent but can be quite good throughout November.

One other great part is that you will avoid a lot of the crowds that the winter brings to Costa Rica. Many tourists haven’t decided to head south yet at this point, and local schools are still in session until the beginning of December. These factors mean you very well could have the beach or the pool all to yourself!
