If you have always wanted to visit our beautiful area of Costa Rica but didn’t live near one of the hubs that offers flights to our airport in Liberia (LIR), we have got some great news for you!
In the past few weeks there has been announcements from Delta and Jet Blue regarding to new flights that will be offered from LA (3 times per week) as well as a trip per week from Boston. The new flights will begin this November. The LA flights are long overdue as travelers before would have had to fly through Houston or Atlanta to get to Liberia.
After undergoing a major upgrade just a few years ago, the Liberia International Airport is proving that it was money well spent. The latest numbers put out by Costa Rica’s Tourism agency suggests that over 80% of its tourism is to US customers who stay on average 10 days per trip and spend on average 1050 per person while in Costa Rica. This is a huge boost to all levels of the Costa Rican economy.
Be sure to book your flights, accommodation and diving early as these new flights may make this a busier tourist season than the previous few years in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Happy diving!
